Malema's car broken into at Sandton home

August 08, 2008 Edition 4

The car of ANC Youth League president Julius Malema was broken into early yesterday.

Joburg police spokesperson Inspector Moses Maphakhele said an unknown number of men entered the residential premises of Malema and broke into his garage at his Sandton home.

"They broke into the boot of Malema's C-class Mercedes-Benz and stole a handbag containing his passport, identity document and bank cards. They did not manage to enter the house and no arrests have been made," Maphakhele said.

The ANCYL condemned the burglary.

"We condemn this act of cowardice in the strongest possible terms," spokesperson Vuyiswa Tulelo said.

"An attack on leaders of the ANCYL is an attack on the ANCYL itself."
