January 12, 2008 Edition 1

Seven films, incuding two French dramas, are in contention for the makeup category at the 80th annual Academy Awards.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and La Vie en Rose made the shortlist, along with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Norbit, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Sweeney Todd and 300.

The members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Makeup Branch will view 10-minute excerpts from each of the films next Saturday and will then vote to nominate three films for Oscar consideration.

Nominations will be announced on January 22. Last year's winner was Pan's Labyrinth. - Reuters
