Solar power is such an obvious solution

It is interesting that there is a conundrum over whether we would have to build coal-fired or nuclear power stations (February 19).

What amazes me is that there is virtually no talk of solar power. After all, the technology is old hat and practical.

Cost is always a problem, but if were were encouraged to use solar energy in bulk, the cost would surely come down considerably. Water heating alone would dramatically reduce the current main electricity supply demand. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a tax incentive or grant for the installation of solar heating systems?
