The level of water in the Vaal Dam remains at 104 percent with seven sluice gates still open, the Department of Water Affairs said on Monday.
"It is expected that tomorrow a further two gates will closed to bring to five the number of sluice gates opened... The dam should then be at 102 percent full," the department said in a statement.
The Orange River and the Gariep Dam were 99 percent full, while the Vanderkloof Dam was at 100 percent. The Bloemhof Dam in the North West was 120 percent full.
"The department would like to warn people living in the vicinity of these dams to take care not to participate in recreational activities in them," the department said. - Sapa
